As the streaming video service likes of Netflix, Amazon and Hulu push ever further into the realm of original TV, more and more actors better known for movies or conventional telly are hopping aboard. Hulu has scored Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan’s services for a new drama called The Way.
Paul will also produce the show, which was created by Jessica Goldberg and aims to take a look at how people struggle with love and marriage and making the choice between the life we’re given and the one we want to be living. The Breaking Bad alumnus is set as Eddie Clearly, a man with a criminal past who joins a controversial movement, only to suffer a crisis of faith when everything he’s come to accept is challenge. Monaghan will be his wife, who faces her own challenges.
Hulu is producing 10 episodes that will hit the service either later this year or early next. It’s also part of a new production deal Paul has signed with Universal TV that will keep him busy with projects for various outlets in between his film work.
The actor will next be seen in John Hillcoat’s crime thriller Triple Nine (out September 18) and The 9th Life Of Louis Drax, which has yet to announce a release date. He’s also in drone Eye In The Sky and will have a role alongside Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in action comedy Central Intelligence, due out next year. Monaghan has Adam Sandler comedy adventure Pixels set to land on August 12.
