She learned a lot about dealing with ill-gotten gains in Breaking Bad, so perhaps Anna Gunn can apply some of that financial know-how to a new job. She’s signed on to star in indie financial drama Equity.
Meera Menon is directing the film, which is being described as the first female-focused look at the Wall Street world. Gunn will play an investment banker whose future is threatened by a huge financial scandal. As she looks deeper into what’s going on, she discovers a massive, tangled web of corruption – in Wall Street? Shurely Shome Mishtake! – and has to re-examine the fast-paced, no-holds-barred world she’s always loved.
With production support from Broad Street Pictures, founded by actors Sarah Megan and Alysia Reiner, aimed at generating interesting roles for women, the film should be shooting soon.
Gunn recently appeared in the backdoor pilot for a spin-off of US TV crime drama Criminal Minds, but isn’t going to stay with the show. She was also part of Gracepoint, the American version of Broadchuch.
