That nice Sam Mendes is spoiling us with a selection of Spectre DVD extras before the film has even been finished, let alone released in cinemas. The latest video blog deftly walks the line between taking us behind the scenes and giving away major plot points, like the possible presence (or otherwise) of Blofeld, double-taking pigeons and rocket-launching ghetto blasters. Click below to take a closer look at the Mexico City leg of the film’s shoot.
“I wanted the audience to be dropped right into the middle of a very, very specific, very heady, rich environment,” explains Mendes of the movie’s "biggest ever" opening sequence built around Mexico's Dia de Muertos holiday. "It’s the Day of the Dead, everywhere you look there’s colour and detail and life. We’ve built floats and maquettes, the costumes are extraordinary and the craftsmanship is amazing.”
Alongside Mendes, there are contributions from costume designer Jany Temime, producer Stacy Perskie and make-up designer Naomi Donne, among other key crew and more than 1500 extras. {New Spectre Vlog Pics}With Sam Mendes back directing a script that has been written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Spectre sees Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris, as M, Q and Moneypenny respectively, with new recruits Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, Stephanie Sigman as Estrella and Andrew Scott as Denbigh. Oh, and Daniel Craig as James Bond. It’ll hit UK screens on October 23 before heading to the States and elsewhere on November 6.
