The Lonely Island's New Movie Has Started Shooting

Producer Judd Apatow shares the news

It was announced last August that Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer – collectively known for rap and comedy, and comedy rap purposes as The Lonely Island – are making a new movie. Now producer Judd Apatow has tweeted news that the film has begun production and shows off an teaser poster for the film.

The trio, who have previously worked separately on other movies but brought their warped minds together to make the seriously underrated Hot Rod in 2007, have been busy writing their next join project.

There’s no title yet, but we do know that it’ll spoof and dissect music documentaries and concert films of recent times such as Katy Perry’s Part Of Me and the Justin Bieber movie Never Say Never and reportedly focuses on a rapper whose latest album bombs forcing him to do the unthinkable: a reunion concert with his former boy band. Which makes sense, given how much music factors into their comedy. The three are starring together, with Schaffer and Taccone sharing directorial duties, with the cameras already cranking in Los Angeles.

There’s no sign of a release date yet, but we’d figure mid-2016.
