Major Crimes seldom puts one of its own characters at the center of a legal dilemma, particularly when that issue is fraught with political overtones, so let me take this opportunity to explain. The story in our next episode was broken, outlined, written and shot long before the recent rash of "use-of-force" issues became the subject of intense media scrutiny and civil unrest. Nothing you will see in "Internal Affairs" should be deemed a reaction to Ferguson or Cleveland or Staten Island! Far from expressing any ideological point-of-view, "Internal Affairs" was designed to finally put Julio Sanchez squarely on the wrong side of a physical confrontation with a criminal; it is the natural escalation of issues related to his temper.



Several times this season, viewers might have witnessed Det. Sanchez exhibit an inappropriate amount of anger toward criminal suspects — especially when young people or children are concerned...
