Aaron Paul Starring In Come And Find Me

Aaron Paul Starring In Come And Find Me

Zack Whedon has written and will direct the thriller

Aaron-Paul-Come-And-Find-Me

He might not have the same high profile as his Avengers-wrangling older brother Joss, but Zack Whedon has being putting in solid work on various TV shows as well as being a crucial part of the team that brought Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog to life. He’s now making the leap to films with his directorial debut, Come And Find Me, and has landed Aaron Paul to star.

The busy former Breaking Bad actor (who just yesterday set up a new project with Hulu) is aboard to play a man named David, whose girlfriend goes missing. Then to add to that, he realizes she’s been lying to him and isn’t who she was pretending to be, so he redoubles his efforts to find her.

With his leading man in place, Whedon can start the cameras rolling in Vancouver next month, working from his own script. He’s worked on the likes of Deadwood and Fringe, and was most recently part of the writing staff for 1980s-set computer TV drama Halt And Catch Fire.

Paul, as mentioned above, will star in a new series for Hulu and will next be seen on the big screen in John Hillcoat’s crime thriller Triple Nine (out September 18) and The 9th Life Of Louis Drax, which has yet to announce a release date. He’s also in drone Eye In The Sky and will have a role alongside Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in action comedy Central Intelligence, due out next year.

Matt Smith Joins Netflix's The Crown

Matt Smith Joins Netflix's The Crown

He'll be Prince Philip to Claire Foy's Queen Elizabeth II

Matt-Smith-The-Crown

Back in November last year, it was announced that Claire Foy was in talks to play Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s new series The Crown. She’s officially taking the throne, and will be joined on screen by Matt Smith and John Lithgow

Adapted and expanded from Peter Morgan’s play The Audience by the writer himself, it’ll follow a similar timeline to the stage version, tracking the Queen's interactions with the many Prime Minsters that have come and gone during her reign. Foy is on to play Her Maj during the early part of her reign from the 1950s onwards, but there’s still no word on whether she’ll be the Queen throughout the whole story (the way Helen Mirren managed it on stage) or if she’ll hand over to other actors as the years pass. It’s also likely that the first season of 10 episodes will stick to the post-war era.

Smith, who we’re now really hoping asks everyone he meets on the Terminator Genisys red carpet, “have you come far?” and “what do you do?” in preparation for his role, will be the Duke of Edinburgh, with Lithgow on as Sir Winston Churchill. The series will hit Netflix next year.

Emily Blunt's Caught In A Drug War In The Sicario Trailer

Emily Blunt's Caught In A Drug War In The Sicario Trailer

There will be blood

Sicario-trailer

Following a positive reception at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Denis Villeneuve’s latest, Sicario is fast approaching our screens. The first trailer is now online over at Apple.

Sicario – which mean “hit man” in Mexico – is set on the lawless border between the United States and its southern neighbour, where some of the most violent battles of the drug war are fought. Dropped into this near literal trial by fire is idealistic FBI agent Kate Macer, who has been recruited by shadowy elite government agent Matt (Josh Brolin).

Heading across the border with an enigmatic “consultant” (Benicio Del Toro), Kate and her team start a journey that will have her questioning everything she knows about good and bad and witnessing the many shades of grey that lie in between what she previously thought were black and white issues. And when she becomes convinced she has to expose what’s really going on, things become even more dangerous for her.

This promises to be a compelling thriller with standout performances from Blunt and her co-stars. The film, which features a script by Taylor Sheridan, lands in the US on September 18 and then the UK on November 6.

Matthew Vaughn Wants To Make Two More Kick-Ass Films

Matthew Vaughn Wants To Make Two More Kick-Ass Films

A prequel and a threequel...

Matthew-Vaughn-more-Kick-Ass

Though you might imagine (and right now would be right) that Matthew Vaughn’s focus is on crafting a Kingsman sequel, he hasn’t totally forgotten the Kick-Ass universe, and has pretty big plans for what he wants to do with it.

From the sounds of it, Vaughn was in agreement with those who felt like Jeff Wadlow’s 2013’s follow-up didn’t quite recapture the ribald magic of Vaughn’s first Kick-Ass. And he’s looking to take the series back in time before it can move forward. “We’re working on an idea for a prequel of how did Hit Girl and Big Daddy become Hit Girl and Big Daddy,” he tells Yahoo UK. “If we make that, hopefully that will be the sorbet for the people that didn’t like Kick-Ass 2 and then we can go off and make Kick-Ass 3. I think we’ve got to do this prequel to regain the love that we had with Kick-Ass.”

Whether he ends up in the director’s chair for either of those films is a topic for another day, but from the sounds of it, he’s definitely planning to be more involved moving forward. Hopefully that will also mean the return of co-writer Jane Goldman.
