Aaron Paul Finds The Way For A New Hulu Series

Aaron Paul Finds The Way For A New Hulu Series

Michelle Monaghan will co-star in the drama

Aaron-Paul-The-Way

As the streaming video service likes of Netflix, Amazon and Hulu push ever further into the realm of original TV, more and more actors better known for movies or conventional telly are hopping aboard. Hulu has scored Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan’s services for a new drama called The Way.

Paul will also produce the show, which was created by Jessica Goldberg and aims to take a look at how people struggle with love and marriage and making the choice between the life we’re given and the one we want to be living. The Breaking Bad alumnus is set as Eddie Clearly, a man with a criminal past who joins a controversial movement, only to suffer a crisis of faith when everything he’s come to accept is challenge. Monaghan will be his wife, who faces her own challenges.

Hulu is producing 10 episodes that will hit the service either later this year or early next. It’s also part of a new production deal Paul has signed with Universal TV that will keep him busy with projects for various outlets in between his film work.

The actor will next be seen in John Hillcoat’s crime thriller Triple Nine (out September 18) and The 9th Life Of Louis Drax, which has yet to announce a release date. He’s also in drone Eye In The Sky and will have a role alongside Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in action comedy Central Intelligence, due out next year. Monaghan has Adam Sandler comedy adventure Pixels set to land on August 12.

New Trailers For Hotel Transylvania 2

New Trailers For Hotel Transylvania 2

Family matters for Drac and the pack

The teaser trailer for Sony’s follow-up to the success of 2012’s Hotel Transylvania flapped through our web windows back in March, and brought with it the first look at the new movie. Now here comes not one, but two new full trailers, one aimed at us in the UK (below) and US audiences (at the bottom of the page). They tell roughly the same story, but feature plenty of different footage chunks.

This new film picks up the narrative a few years after the original. These days, Dracula (Adam Sandler) is a happy grandfather, having accepted human son-in-law Johnny (Andy Samberg) and delighting in spending time with grandson Dennis. But when Dennis and Drac’s daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) take a well-earned holiday, Drac volunteers to care for Dennis with the help of pals Frank (Kevin James), Wayne (Steve Buscemi), Griffin (David Spade) and the rest. Trouble is, Dennis is showing few signs of developing into a vampire, and in fact might be more human than anyone suspects.

Intent on making a monster out of the lad, Drac, whose hotel now accepts humans, tries his best to bring out Dennis’ scary side, to little effect. And things get more complicated when Drac’s father Vlad (Mel Brooks) shows up and casts an ancient, beady disapproving eye over everything his son is doing.

With director Genndy Tartakovsky back in charge of the monster mash and returning voices Fran Drescher and Molly Shannon joined by new recruit Keegan-Michael Key (who takes over as Murray the Mummy), Hotel Transylvania 2 is out in the States on September 25 before making it to the UK on October 9.

Vin Diesel Says A Last Witch Hunter Sequel Is Planned

Vin Diesel Says A Last Witch Hunter Sequel Is Planned

More witches on the way?

Vin-Diesel-Pimps-Last-Witch-Hunter-Sequel

Vin Diesel isn’t always spot on when it comes to predicting big successful franchises in the making (xXx springs to mind), but that doesn’t stop him. Especially when he has the megaphone that is Facebook. He’s taken to his personal page to say that Lionsgate/Summit is developing a sequel to his latest action/adventure, The Last Witch Hunter

The first film, of course, hasn’t even hit cinemas, nor has it put out more than a teaser so far. But according to the man himself, we could be looking at more quests against the forces of darkness with his valiant, immortal warrior, Kaulder. “So the studio apparently is so excited by The Last Witch Hunter – The Axe and Cross franchise… that they are already commencing on the next one,” says Diesel. “The first one doesn’t hit theaters until October 23rd, yet they want me to commit and already block out time to film it."

In case you weren’t aware, the movie takes place in a world where powerful, magical witches from years ago have survived into the present day. Hell bent on spreading a deadly plague to wipe out mankind, they have but one real foe: the armies of Witch Hunters who do battle against their wicked ways. One such is Kaulder, who was able to slay the Queen Witch, but not before she cursed him with some of her immortality, forcing him to outlive his family and continue his mission hundreds of years later. Now, with the Queen Witch resurrected, Kaulder faces an epic battle for the very future of us all.

With Breck Eisner directing, the film also features Rose Leslie, Michael Caine, Elijah Wood and Julie Engelbrecht. While American audiences do indeed get the film in October, we here in the UK must wait until November 6. As to the future of the franchise? That’ll likely depend on the response to the first, but it sounds like the studio wants to move ahead quickly if it’s a hit.

First Trailer For The Secret Life Of Pets Barks Online

First Trailer For The Secret Life Of Pets Barks Online

Dogs and cats living together. Mass Hysteria!

Branching out from the Minion-filled world of Despicable Me and taking on Dr. Seuss tales, the Illumination Entertainment team is turning its hand to the furry folk we share our world with. The Secret Life Of Pets features an all-star comedy voice cast and has put out its first, funny teaser trailer.

As you might be able to figure from the title, the film takes a Toy Story-style peek into the world of pets inhabiting a Manhattan apartment building, and explain how they fill their days once their human owners shuffle off to work. Their time involves swapping stories, making trouble around their homes, getting a massage from a food mixer (!), practicing their cute faces to secure the best snacks and generally chilling.

It’s really just an early look at some of the characters so far, and doesn’t get into the main story. But early reports talked up Max (Louis C.K.) a smart rescue terrier used to being the centre of attention in his home, finding this particular day more challenging than usual thanks to the arrival of mongrel Duke (Eric Stonestreet), and a mishap has the pair find themselves out in the wilds of the New York streets where they’ll have to stop cunning bunny Snowball (Kevin Hart) from turning the tables on humanity. Albert Brooks is voicing a pet named Tiberius, while Lake Bell is sarcastic kitty Chloe.

This one also boasts the talents of Ellie Kemper, Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan and Hannibal Buress. With Despicable veteran Chris Renaud directing alongside Yarrow Cheney, the script comes from Illumination scripting regulars Brian Lynch, Cinco Paul, Ken Daurio, and The Secret Life Of Pets will be out in the UK on June 24 next year.
