Liam Neeson Wants To Return To Star Wars, Here's How It Can Happen

Despite the fact that fans have repeatedly panned Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace throughout its 16 year life span, there were a couple of bright spots in an otherwise dismal film. One such spot has always been Liam Neeson's performance as Jedi Knight/Obi Wan Kenobi's mentor, Qui-Gon Jinn. Unfortunately for those of us who were so amped to see Neeson wield a lightsaber, it was short lived as he was taken out by Darth Maul towards the end of the film. Of course, you can't keep a good Jedi down, and Neeson is keen on living up to ...

Star Wars 7: Why The Cast Is Committed To Protecting The Film's Secrets

J.J. Abrams is notoriously tightlipped when it comes to the details on his movies. Remember how often he swore Benedict Cumberbatch was not playing Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness? Understandably, he's even more secretive when it comes to Star Wars: Episode 7. One of his stars, Domhnall Gleeson, says he's never had to deal with so many secrets surrounding a project before, but he had an experience on set that put everything into perspective. The About Time and Harry Potter actor recently spoke to RadioTimes.com on the subject. As he said: Once I got to set, the way ...

Trailer For Ryan Reynolds' Black Comedy The Voices Arrives

The Voices Trailer Hits The Web

'Mr. Whiskers... he makes me do bad things'

There's a new trailer for Ryan Reynolds’ The Voices and it’s every bit as twisted as you’d expect from a black comedy about a serial killer who follows instructions from a talking cat called Mr. Whiskers. There’s also a talking dog, an Elvis impersonator and Gemma Arterton’s head in a fridge. Click below to take a look.

The Voices sees Reynolds playing a diffident warehouse worker called Jerry Hickfang. He wouldn’t normally say “boo” to a goose but, as it turns out, he probably would brutally stab it to death with its own beak if Mr. Whiskers told him too. When he plucks up the courage to ask that pretty girl in accounting (Anna Kendrick) out, he must try to resist the feline’s foul bidding. Luckily, he has his trusty bull mastiff Bosco to offer a voice of reason.

Jacki Weaver and Gemma Arterton round out the cast as his puzzled shrink and reanimated victim respectively.

Marje ‘Persepolis’ Satrapi has overseen this deliriously barking-looking confection, working from a script by Paranormal Activity 2’s Michael R. Perry and with Reynolds himself providing all the animal voices. The Voices played to appreciative crowds at Sundance last year and we’ll be seeing it on UK screens on March 20.

Edward James Olmos Boards Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Edward James Olmos Boards Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

The Battlestar Galactica veteran lands recurring role

"What awaits us out there is what troubles me," Edward James Olmos in his role as Battlestar Galactica's sage but increasingly troubled Admiral Adama. That brow should prepare for further furrowing with the veteran Battlestar and Blade Runner actor signing up for a recurring role in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.. No word yet on whether he'll be on the side of the angels or doing the dark biding of HYDRA, but Marvel has at least offered up his character name.

“Edward James Olmos brings an amazing gravitas to any role he inhabits, something we knew we needed for Robert Gonzales,” said executive producer Jeph Loeb. “When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice – including our favourite Agents.”

The arrival of Olmos's Gonzales will, reveals the official Marvel press release, have “massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team".

The overlap of themes between Ronald D. Moore's sci-fi and the Marvelverse - the balance of great power with equal levels of responsibility (and big evil robots) - might have helped lure the veteran to lend his character acting chops to phase three of the Marvelverse. Either way, he's a terrific addition to a TV series that has steadily found its feet and is being eased into the Marvel mainstream.

Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be back on TVs Stateside in March.

Plus Paul Rudd & Kevin Feige discuss Edgar Wright's exit

There's been something of an Ant-Man onslaught this week, with first the trailer and now a new set of stills exiting the Marvel nest and squinting in the light of the wider world. Behold below as Paul Rudd enjoys jocular conversations with Michael Douglas and Peyton Reed, and approaches and displays his new super-togs. There's a shot of Evangeline Lilly too.{New Ant-Man Stills}

Elsewhere in EW's feature it remains clear that Edgar Wright continues to cast a long shadow over the entire Ant-Man project. Addressing the issue of Wright's departure, Marvel honcho Kevin Feige reiterates that it was disappointing but amicable.

"It is true that there were disagreements about the direction the script should take,” he explains. "but everything was above board. Everything was done with everybody else’s knowledge. There was a sense of ‘We’re going in this direction, you’re staying in this direction... maybe it’s best that we end as friends.'"

Rudd, meanwhile, says he was "devastated" to see Wright go, but that his imprint remains to an extent. "The bones of it is really Edgar and Joe [Cornish],” he says. “It’s been an emotional roller coaster, but I’m very excited now.” Wright and Cornish have ended up with a story credit, with Rudd and Adam McKay officially labelled the screenwriters.

Ant-Man is out in the UK on July 17. And in case you missed it, here's that teaser again.
