German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named Time's Person of the Year.
The magazine praised Merkel for her bold leadership, citing her decisions to welcome refugees, deploy troops to fight ISIS, bail out Greece and lead "the West's response to Vladimir Putin's creeping theft of Ukraine."
