Lionsgate Wants To Turn Z-Men Into A Movie

Secret Service, meet zombies

Already involved in a partnership with Take-Two Interactive software to turn its Borderlands game into a film, Lionsgate has now struck a new deal with the company’s comic-book offshoot Double Take to adapt graphic novel series Z-Men for the big screen.

Taking advantage of the fact that its public domain status means anyone can set stories within the world of George Romero’s Night Of The Living Dead, Double Take has figured out a whole universe of comics set in the same time, launching 10 different series.

Z-Men, created and written by Jeff McComsey from a story he dreamt up with Bill Jemas and featuring art by Kurt Tiede, Maxflan Araujo, Caroline Flanagan and Alisson Rodrigues, follows Secret Service agents Stuart and Clancy who are dispatched to Pennsylvania by President Lyndon B. Johnson to investigate a spree of murders and sporadic reports of the dead returning to life. The pair must discover what is going on – and of course, they’ll learn that the zombie apocalypse is very real and very dangerous...

This one is in development, so there are no writers or directors attached yet. And by the time it makes it to screens, will we be over the zombie zeitgeist again – or can another different take on the idea work?
