Despite top-tier talent both behind the camera (Paul Bettany, who writes and makes his directorial debut here) and in front (Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Mackie star), Shelter hasn’t had an easy ride towards cinemas. It debuted at the Toronto Film Festival last year, and is only now headed to our screens. Check out the trailer that proves it.
Shelter finds Connelly and Mackie as Hannah and Tahir. Both are living rough on the streets of New York for very different reasons: she’s succumbed to a life-shattering drug addiction and he has his own troubled past he’s not willing to share. But they find each other on the mean streets of Manhattan and start falling in love, even if more and more challenges keep flying their way.
Trying to build something together when every impulse tells them that being safer is apart, the pair tackle everything from a child in Hannah’s past to Tahir having immigration issues.
The film will arrive in the US on November 13 before making its way here on November 27.
