Patrick Heusinger Will Be Jack Reacher 2's Villain

Patrick Heusinger Will Be Jack Reacher 2's Villain

He's joining the sequel

Patrick-Heusinger-Jack-Reacher-2

With shooting scheduled to start in November, co-writer/director Ed Zwick is locking in the elements he needs for Jack Reacher 2. He now has Patrick Heusinger in talks to play the film’s villain

Zwick has been developing the sequel to Christopher McQuarrie’s film based on Lee Child’s book series. He and usual co-writer Marshall Herskovitz honed a Richard Wenk draft of the script adapted from Never Go Back, which finds Reacher (played once again by Tom Cruise) travelling from South Dakota to his old military base in Virginia, to be charged with a violent incident and faced with a paternity case, neither of which transgression he remembers.

Heusinger joins Aldis Hodge, Danika Yarosh and Cobie Smulders in the likely list of Cruise co-stars, assuming all of their deals close. He’s been seen in such films as Frances Ha, Black Swan and The Nanny Diaries and has a role in TV/games mash-up Quantum Break, which is set to hit screens net year. Jack Reacher 2 is currently eyeing an October 21, 2016 release date in the UK.

Paramount Plans Jack Ryan TV Series

Paramount Plans Jack Ryan TV Series

Carlton Cuse and Michael Bay are involved

Jack-Ryan-TV

Paramount’s most recent attempt to jumpstart the Jack Ryan franchise with Shadow Recruit (starring Chris Pine as the Tom Clancy-created character) may not have sparked a new film series, but the studio is instead passing the baton to its TV department, hiring Bates Motel man Carlton Cuse and fellow writer/producer Graham Roland to develop a small screen incarnation.

Don’t expect Pine to be back for this one – yes, we’re getting yet another Jack Ryan for the series, which is also being produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes.

Cuse (who also works on The Strain and upcoming series Colony) is on board to produce and run the show, with Roland (who he met on Lost and has worked with since) will be an executive producer. They won’t be directly adapting any of Clancy’s books, but will instead be showcasing the character as a CIA agent/analyst in the present day, a few years beyond when we see him in the 2014 film, without being a continuation of that take on the character.

This hasn’t been set up at an American network yet, but Deadline reports that there’s a lot of interest in the show, so expect it to find a home soon enough.
