Acclaimed football doc gets a new promo

"Imagine Rotherham suddenly winning the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Cup and you're close to Nottingham Forest's unbelievable in the late '70s." So opens Empire's four-star review of new football doc I Believe In Miracles, a disco-era fairy tale about one team's journey to football's promised land. After The Damned United, this the happier end of the Brian Clough story as he leads his team from seeming no-hopers to triumph and more silverware than Smaug’s pawnbroker. 

Named after the Jackson Sisters' disco classic of 1976, the story picks up not long after Clough was left out on his ear after 44 tumultuous days at Leeds United. Jobs at Derby County, while a more auspicious career move, and Brighton came to an end and the maverick manager was left with another fresh start. Clough’s starts didn’t tend to stay fresh for long, although the stars were aligned for his new post at second division strugglers Nottingham Forest. In no time, he had a talented team winning again – and often. 

All the Forest players from that era contribute to a true-life tale that’ll keep sports fans happy and send Forest supporters into raptures. Think Escape To Victory, only without all the pesky Nazis and a better goalkeeper. 



I Believe In Miracles gets its UK premiere at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on October 11, before going nationwide three days later.

Latest Peanuts Trailer Arrives

Charlie Brown just wants to be a winner

The (mis)adventures of Charlie Brown and canine pal Snoopy have been pop cultural stalwarts for decades, so it’s almost surprising it took this long for someone to turn their tales into a CG ‘toon. Still, the rightfully protective family of creator Charles Schulz have been intent on making sure it captures the spirit of the original newspaper cartoon strips, so here comes what is called here Snoopy And Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie.

The movie sees Snoopy reconvening with his old pals Linus, Lucy and, of course, Charlie Brown for more canine adventures, some of an aeronautical kind and involving the dreaded Red Baron, air ace and scourge of the skies. Mostly, though, it looks like more of a coming-of-age romance as the adorable and awkward Charlie goes a bit Kevin-Arnold-and-Winnie with the new kid in town. And the new kid? None other than unseen (in the comic strip, at least) Peanuts character, Little Red-Haired Girl. 

Despite the shiny digital upgrade from Ice Age studio Blue Sky, the characters still look and feel the way we’ve come to expect from the old TV specials, and the story appears to maintain than old-school Peanuts charm. The film arrives in the US on November 6 before heading here on December 21. You can turn yourself into a Peanuts character right here.

New Set Of Suffragette Posters Released

Freedom, equality, order, protest, tradition and justice for all

A couple of weeks away from its premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, here's a batch of new character posters for Suffragette. Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Meryl Streep, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff and Ben Whishaw star, and each gets a one-sheet to chain to your railings. Or Blu-tack will do.

Suffragette tells the tale of the footsoldiers who spearheaded the suffrage movement, fighting against ingrained sexism and their own families' reactions. Streep plays Emmeline Pankhurst, while Bonham Carter plays campaigner Edith New, and Mulligan is Maud Watts, who becomes an important part of their struggle. Gleeson is copper Arthur Steed, Duff is factory worker Violet Miller, and Whishaw is Maud's gruff husband Sonny.

With Sarah Gavron directing an Abi Morgan script, Suffragette already has a lot of buzz. It’ll play at the LFF on October 7 at the Odeon Leicester Square, with simultaneous screenings in cinemas across the UK. It gets its full wide release on October 30.
