New Trailer For The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

New Trailer For The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

All things Prim

In the strictest sense, this isn’t really a promo for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, more a look back at Katniss Everdeen’s (Jennifer Lawrence) close bond with her sister Primrose (Willow Shields), whose choice by the first film’s game lottery led to all of Katniss’ journey from small town hunter to rebel icon. But take a look anyway.

While we’re on the subject of the film, tickets for the final chunk of the franchise will be going on sale on October 1, so mark that date in your calendars if you’re eagerly anticipating what should be a much more eventful second film adapted from Suzanne Collins’ third book.

This one finds Katniss and the rebels making the final push against Donald Sutherland's scheming President Snow and the Capitol, with lives on the line and sacrifices to be made. The new movie should boost the action quotient as the bigger beats are to be found lurking towards the end of Suzanne Collins’ third tome. Check out the new poster below, which sees Katniss with a Mockingjay friend whose name isn’t given, but we’re going to assume is Flapperly Warblebreath.

Mockingjay-2-new-poster

With Francis Lawrence again directing and J. Law joined on screen by Shields, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Julianne Moore, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone and more, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 flits into our cinemas on November 20.

Sam Mendes Is Empire's New Guest Editor

Sam Mendes Is Empire's New Guest Editor

Bringing the world's best Spectre coverage to the new issue

Empire has been blessed with some prestigious guest editors before – Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have both occupied the hot seat – and this month they’re joined by another filmmaking titan. Sam Mendes, director of Spectre, Skyfall and American Beauty, among others, is adding Empire’s guest editorship to his substantial honour roll. And with him comes the greatest Spectre coverage on the planet.

When the November issue hits shelves next Thursday, within will be 38 pages of dedicated Spectre coverage, including first-looks, on-set reports and all the treasures afforded to a magazine whose editor actually made the movie.

It's a truly unmissable event for fans of Empire, 007, the Bond franchise or Mendes' - can we just call him 'boss' now and be done with it? - filmmaking career, both within and without Eon's historic franchise. He's delved into his contacts book to quiz his peers (including fellow guest editor Steven Spielberg!) on all their filmmaking tricks and traits.

Look out for much, much more on this very special Spectre issue of Empire right here in the next seven days. The November issue - edited by Sam Mendes - will hit shelves on September 24. Pre-order your copy here.

Albert Hughes Discovers The Solutrean

Albert Hughes Discovers The Solutrean

Directing the Ice Age survival adventure

Five years on from The Book Of Eli, and following a dalliance with Akira and the collapse of Motor City, Albert Hughes finally has his next project lined up. He'll direct The Solutrean, under producer Jeff Robinov's new Studio 8 production banner.

Currently listed on the IMDb as "Untitled Caveman Project", the freshly-monikered Solutrean is an ambitious-sounding epic adventure set in the Ice Age. The unusual title refers to an Upper Palaeolithic-era industry - a cache of tools and art - first discovered in eastern-central France near Mâcon in 1866. The film's plot, involves a hunting expedition gone wrong and a yojng survivor's difficult journey home again.

It could be an Apocalypto, or a 10,000 BC, or a Pathfinder, but hopefully it won't encounter quite the difficulties of Alejandro Gonzalez-Inarritu's The Revenant. It should certainly look spectacular since it's being shot for IMAX 3D.

Hughes came up with the story, while relative newcomer Dan Wiedenhaupt turned it into screenplay form. Hughes' professional history with Robinov goes all the way to Menace 2 Society. Andrew Rona, who was involved with The Book Of Eli, is also producing.

The Solutrean is currently pencilled in for shooting either late this year or early next, in Canada and Iceland.
