New Spectre Poster Lands

New Spectre Poster Lands

Look out for that skull, 007!

Fashion lore across the pond runs that it’s unacceptable to wear white after Labor Day, which falls on September 7 this year. So here comes Daniel Craig's Bond, sneaking in before the deadline in the new poster for Spectre

New-Spectre-Poster

To be honest, obeying archaic dress sense is the least of 007’s worries, especially with a Dia de los Muertos-style skull (a signifier of the film’s Mexico-based opening sequence) lurking behind him.

And he’ll have much more than that to worry about in Sam Mendes’ second shot at the Bond franchise after Skyfall. Following up on what happened in that film, 007 is sent off on another globe-trotting adventure, spurred by a cryptic message to discover a secret, sinister organisation that has its roots in his own past.

With Mendes back directing a script that has been written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Spectre sees Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris, as M, Q and Moneypenny respectively, with new recruits Christoph Waltz as the enigmatic Oberhauser, Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swan, Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Stephanie Sigman as Estrella and Andrew Scott as Denbigh. It’ll hit UK screens – include the big IMAX ones – on October 23 before heading across the pond and elsewhere on November 6. For all you need to know about the film, brief yourself with our guide

Mark Ruffalo Says The Hulk Was Cut From Captain America: Civil War

Mark Ruffalo Says The Hulk Was Cut From Captain America: Civil War

No room for a Brucie bonus after a script change

Hulk-Not-In-Civil-War

Given how many characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe show up in Captain America: Civil War, it’s perhaps not that surprising there was little room left for one of the biggest. According to Mark Ruffalo himself, the Hulk will not be appearing in the film.

Out promoting journo drama Spotlight at the Venice Film Festival, Ruffalo told Badtaste.it (the site is Italian, but the translation is at Collider) that Bruce Banner’s hulking alter ego, last seen soaring into the sky in a Quinjet at the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, is not scheduled to grace our screens again just yet. “The reason is too great to be revealed in this movie. I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don’t want to reveal where is he and why. I don’t even know if Hulk will be back soon.”

Of course, there’s always the chance we might see him pop up in some post-credits scene to tease future Bruce time, but for now it looks like we’ll have to make do with (deep breath) Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Vision (Paul Bettany), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), James “War Machine” Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Crossbones (Frank Grillo), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (William Hurt), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Baron Zemo, (Daniel Brühl) and a mysterious character played by Martin Freeman. They’re all in service to a story that finds our heroes falling out over how much regulation the government should apply to powered types, especially after a mission by Cap and his current Avengers leads to the usual collateral damage.

Captain America: Civil War arrives in the UK on April 29 next year. For all that we know so far about the sprawling superhero slug-fest, hit up our purpose-built guide

Gerard Butler Finds The Headhunter's Calling

Gerard Butler Finds The Headhunter's Calling

Business whizz meets personal crisis

Gerard-Butler-Headhunter's-Calling

Taking a break from his run of guns and gung-ho action thrillers and dramas, Gerard Butler is tackling something a little more low-key. He’s signed on to star in The Headhunter’s Calling

Though it sounds like another action-orientated concept, it’s actually the story of a ruthless, hard-charging corporate headhunter called Dane Jensen, who has been surging at the company he works for and is primed to snatch the top job. But then his young son falls gravely ill and Jensen’s priorities take a major shift.

Mark Williams, a producer on the likes of Flawless and Malice In Wonderland, is making his directorial debut with the film, written by The Judge’s Bill Dubuque. Voltage Pictures is selling the rights to the film at the Toronto Film Festival and it’ll kick off shooting in the city later next month.

Butler has just seen weatherpocalypse thriller Geostorm shoved back to early 2017, but he’ll be on our screens in London Has Fallen (due January 22) and Alex Proyas’ Gods Of Egypt, which finally arrives here on April 8.
