First Trailer For Emma Watson's Regression

First Trailer For Emma Watson's Regression

Alejandro Amenábar's latest unleashes a Crucio curse

Judging by this new trailer and striking first poster for the film, Spanish-Chilean filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar is clearly traumatising poor Emma Watson in his new psycho-drama Regression. Like Nicole Kidman in The Others, Watson will be going through the emotional mill as a young woman with an agonising history of domestic abuse. Click on the YouTube to watch it in full.

Watson plays Angela Gray, a woman who accuses her father (Daniel Dencik) of sexual abuse. He submits to the investigation by Hawke's detective, although he has no recollection of the alleged events. So the stage is set for regression therapist David Thewlis to pick through Dad's repressed memories and uncover a disturbing conspiracy.{Regression Poster}The gifted Amenábar made his debut with the serial killer thriller Tesis in 1996, and followed it a year later with the compelling, and subsequently remade Open Your Eyes. Since then The Others, The Sea Inside and historical drama Agora have shown his range and gift for working closely with actors on intimate stories.

Regression is shaping up to be another, and another adroit showcase of Watson’s chops. The actress also has post-Pinochet coup drama Colonia and Disney’s Beauty And The Beast upcoming.

Amenábar, as per usual, wrote his own screenplay. Shooting wrapped a year ago, but after a small delay Regression will finally stalk into UK cinemas on October 9.

Yvonne Strahovski Discovers All I See Is You

Yvonne Strahovski Discovers All I See Is You

Joining Blake Lively in Marc Forster's drama

Blake Lively and Jason Clarke are already at the top of the cast, and now All I See Is You has another confirmed cast member. Yvonne Strahovski (24: Live Another Day, Dexter, Chuck) has joined Marc Forster's psychological drama.

Forster wrote the script for this one with Sean Conway and it finds him back in the sort of brain-tickling thriller territory he explored with 2005’s Stay, rather than the blockbuster terrain of World War Z

All I See Is You involves Lively as a blind woman whose sight is restored. But while that would surely count as a reason for celebration, her repaired vision means she can now see all the undiscovered details about herself, her husband (Clarke), her marriage and their lives together.

Strahovski will be playing Lively's best friend. She's probably best known at the moment for the TV credits we mentioned above, but she's also had feature experience in Killer Elite, The Guilt Trip and I, Frankenstein. We'll next see her back on the small screen though, in ABC's The Astronaut's Wives Club, which starts on June 18.

All I See Is You is currently shooting in Thaliand, but there are no release dates yet.

Jaden Smith Joins Baz Luhrmann's The Get Down

Jaden Smith Joins Baz Luhrmann's The Get Down

Playing a graffiti artist in the Netflix musical

jaded-smith-after-earth

He's recently been linked (though not officially) with the role of DC superhero Static Shock for a new Warner Bros. TV series. But while those deals are no doubt being wrangled, Jaden Smith has lined up a turn for Baz Luhrman. He's joining Luhrman's musical Netflix extravaganza The Get Down.

Shawn Ryan, best known for shows like The Shield and The Unit, is teaming up with the Australian director to work on the series, which they first starting kicking around as an idea in 2013.

The show is set in grungy, gritty, 1970s New York, a much tougher place to live than the law-abiding city it is today... In the South Bronx, a crew of teenagers who have no-one else to turn to find shelter and solace in each other, as they express their own musical abilities at a time when hip-hop, punk and disco are kicking off and pulsing through the culture.

Smith will be Marcus "Dizzee" Kipling, an exceedingly good South Bronk graffiti artist. Elsewhere in the cast are newcomers Tremaine Brown Jr, Justice Smith, Shameik Moore and Skylan Brooks, and older hands Jimmy Smits, Herizen Guardiola, Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Mamoudou Athie.

“We as an audience have known Jaden since he was very young,” says Luhrmann. “Recently, Jaden has been seeking diverse and challenging roles, and this is a testament to his passion to grow in the craft. In the short time he has joined our acting family, he has begun developing his The Get Down skill set, even taking lessons from the legendary graffiti artist Lady Pink of Wild Style fame, as well as steeping himself in the history and culture of the Bronx. We’re all very happy with the casting of Jaden in the role of Dizzee Kipling, and with his addition, the Kipling family cast is now complete.”

Thirteen episodes are ready for shooting, with Luhrman directing the first two and the season finale. The Get Down will appear on Netflix in all territories next year.

Fargo Season 2 Will Be A Mob Turf War

Fargo Season 2 Will Be A Mob Turf War

Producer spills the beans

Fargo, like True Detective, is forging forward from an acclaimed first season with a new series. Anthology television, to use the buzz phrase, affords the opportunity to wipe the narrative slate clean and start afresh. In the case of Fargo’s ten-part season 2, as producer Warren Littlefield revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, this will involve a dynastic clash of Midwestern crime syndicates in 1979.

"The second season is really is about the corporatisation of America. It's the difference between a mom and pop family business and a Walmart," Littlefield revealed. "It's the Kansas City Mob basically looking to do a hostile takeover of the Gerhard crime family. In the middle, we have a couple, Ed and Peggy Blomquist, and they get caught in the middle of a war between these two crime factions.”

The Blomquists, played by Kirsten Dunst and Breaking Bad’s Jesse Plemons, are a Sioux Falls, South Dakota couple slightly at odds anyway. She’s a woman with big-city dreams and a yearning to change her life, yet while her butcher’s assistant husband wants to support her new-found desire for self-discovery, he isn’t sure how to show it. The arrival of two warring crime dynasties probably won’t help with any of that, especially with Jean Smart’s crime family matriarch, Floyd Gerhardt, likely to leave a violent stamp on their community.

Expect more dark, and darkly-comic, drama. Patrick Wilson will star as Lou Solverson, a clean-cut Minnesota state patrolman, four years back from Vietnam, where he served in the Navy. A humble and competent man, Lou is a devoted husband to his wife Betsy, and father to four-year-old Molly. Ted Danson plays Hank Larsson, the sheriff of Rock County, Minnesota. An unflappable World War II vet who embodies a certain cowboy poetry, Hank is Lou’s father-in-law.

Nick Offerman is Karl Weathers, the town lawyer of Luverne, Minnesota. A Korean War vet, Karl is a flowery drunk blessed with the gift of gab and the eloquence of a true con artist. Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin, Jeffrey Donovan and Bokeem Woodbine are also all aboard.
Set in the post-Vietnam era, the season is also backdropped by Ronald Reagan’s (Bruce Campbell) sharp rise to political pre-eminence. "America is seeking a healing time,” contextualises Littlefield.

Noah Hawley, who crafted the first season, is back for this second spinoff of the Coen brothers' world, with a late 2015 airdate pencilled in.
