Charlie Day And Ice Cube Are Up For A Fist Fight

Charlie Day And Ice Cube Are Up For A Fist Fight

They're in talks for a new comedy

Charlie-Day-Ice-Cube-Fist-Fight

Two men – in this case Horrible Bosses’ Charlie Day and 22 Jump Street’s Ice Cube – get into a fight. Who wins? We’d have thought the answer to that was blindingly obvious, but a new comedy called Fist Fight wants to make it happen regardless

Day and Cube are in talks to star in the film for New Line, which has a script from Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. The basic concept finds Day as a mild-mannered English teacher who must man up when a colleague at his school who thinks he’s trying to get him fired challenges him to a good old-fashioned punch-up. Unless he somehow gets out of it, or manages to learn some amazing ability, we’d suggest this ends with a Charlie Day pancake. And yes, it sounds a little bit like the 2001 Tim Allen comedy Joe Somebody.

There’s no director attached yet, but New Line is hoping to have the cameras rolling in September. Day will next be seen in the new Vacation movie, which is out here on August 21. Cube has NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton arriving August 28 with Ride Along 2 driving up January 22 next year.

New Look At Disney's Zootropolis

New Look At Disney's Zootropolis

Meet Nicke Wilde and Judy Hopps

Zootopolis-new-look

We know that Disney Feature Animation’s next film will be Zootopia, which is set to go by the altered name Zootropolis over here. Now, via USA Today, we’re getting a clearer look at the two main characters, voiced by Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin.

Zootropolis, co-directed by Tangled's Byron Howard and Wreck-It Ralph's Rich Moore, is set in a world where anthropomorphic animals inhabit a modern mammalian metropolis that boasts neighbourhoods such as swanky Sahara Square and frosty Tundratown. Judy (Goodwin) is a small-town rabbit from Bunny Burrows who arrives in the big city to do some good as a cop – though usually ends up with traffic duty. When she meets sly scam artist Fox Nick Wilde (Bateman), the vibe is immediately hate-hate. But that changes when they need each other’s help.

"He's a crafty, sarcastic schemer, and that I've been doing in parts since I was 12," Bateman tells the paper about his character. "I foolishly said, 'What kind of voice do you guys want me to do?' And they just looked at me like I was an idiot and said, 'Just do what you do. Just talk.'”

As for Judy, she’s driven and dedicated but you shouldn’t call her cute. "People have said that to her all her life. She's a little sensitive about that. She gets hoppity emotionally," Goodwin says. "People mistake kindness for naiveté or stupidity, and she is a good girl through and through. But she's not a dumb bunny."

Zootropolis will be out in the US on March 4 next year before landing here on March 25. We’d wager you’ll see at least a teaser trailer before the week is out.

Josh Brolin Set For The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter

Josh Brolin Set For The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter

He's co-starring with Danny McBride in Jody Hill's latest

Josh-Brolin-Joins-Danny-McBride-new-film

Danny McBride and writer/director Jody Hill have enjoyed some success collaborating on screens big and small. They have a new film bubbling away in their development cauldron and now Josh Brolin is set to co-star with McBride in The Legacy Of A Whitetail Deer Hunter.

According to Deadline, the pair plus co-writer John Carcieri (who has worked with them on projects such as Observe And Report and HBO comedy Eastbound & Down) are keeping quiet about the potential plot for now. But unless they’re making a sudden, unexpected swing into dark science fiction dystopia, we’d figure it’ll be another of their awkwardly funny spotlights of people who want more out of life, even as their attitudes let them down. Throwing the title into the magic Google box brings up a low-rent hunting video starring Roger Raglin, so there’s a chance he could be the inspiration.

Hill plans to direct, and Scott Rudin will co-produce alongside Hill and McBride’s Rough House production company. They’ve also been working on a new HBO project, Vice Principals, which focuses on some distinctly lacklustre educators.

Brolin, meanwhile, will next be seen in crime drama Sicario and mountaineering thriller Everest, which are currently both scheduled to arrive here on September 25, followed by the Coens’ new comedy, Hail, Caesar!, due out on February 26 next year.

Jon Bernthal Will Be Daredevil's Punisher

Jon Bernthal Will Be Daredevil's Punisher

Frank Castle is headed to Hell's Kitchen on the Netflix show

Jon-Bernthal-Daredevil-Punisher

When we talked to series star Charlie Cox about the second season of the Marvel/Netflix Daredevil show, he expressed his wishes for what he wanted to see. “I’d like to see Punisher maybe show up, a little bit of Elektra maybe. I wouldn’t mind Black Widow making an appearance, and you can’t think about Daredevil for too long without thinking of Bullseye.” Well, one out of three isn’t bad so far, as Jon Bernthal is showing up as Frank Castle AKA The Punisher

Bernthal, still best known for The Walking Dead, will play the Marvel favourite, a tough vigilante who has his own ideas about cleaning up crime, no matter how lethal his methods. When he arrives in Hell’s Kitchen, you can bet he’ll butt heads with Matt Murdock.

“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television says on Marvel’s site as part of the announcement. “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.” He’s not wrong about the casting – Bernthal seems like a great choice for the character, inheriting a screen mantle that has been shouldered by Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson in the past.

On the big screen, Bernthal has long proved his versatility, cropping up in movies as diverse as The Wolf Of Wall Street, Grudge Match, Rampart and World Trade Center. He has several films on the way, with We Are Your Friends landing August 28, Me And Earl And The Dying Girl due September 11 and Sicario out September 25. He’ll also be seen in The Accountant, Pilgrimage and Shot Caller.  For more on Daredevil, check out our Spoiler Special Podcast.
