Two men – in this case Horrible Bosses’ Charlie Day and 22 Jump Street’s Ice Cube – get into a fight. Who wins? We’d have thought the answer to that was blindingly obvious, but a new comedy called Fist Fight wants to make it happen regardless.
Day and Cube are in talks to star in the film for New Line, which has a script from Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. The basic concept finds Day as a mild-mannered English teacher who must man up when a colleague at his school who thinks he’s trying to get him fired challenges him to a good old-fashioned punch-up. Unless he somehow gets out of it, or manages to learn some amazing ability, we’d suggest this ends with a Charlie Day pancake. And yes, it sounds a little bit like the 2001 Tim Allen comedy Joe Somebody.
There’s no director attached yet, but New Line is hoping to have the cameras rolling in September. Day will next be seen in the new Vacation movie, which is out here on August 21. Cube has NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton arriving August 28 with Ride Along 2 driving up January 22 next year.
