New Vacation Trailer Arrives Online

New Vacation Trailer Arrives Online

Griswolds be trippin'

The rude, red band trailer for the new Vacation arrived just last month. But here comes a new promo, laden with fresh footage (and one or two repeated moments), looking to sell you on a new trip with the Griswolds.

This new film picks up the Griswold clan as it has evolved into a grown Rusty’s (Ed Helms) family. He’s settled down, married wife Debbie (Christina Applegate) and has two kids, Kevin (Steele Stebbins) and James (Skyler Gisondo). But though their life seems happy, he’s convinced it’s not all it could be.

So Rusty decides to replicate his father Clark’s (Chevy Chase, who pops up alongside on-screen wife Beverly D’Angelo) attempt to take the family to the Walley World theme park. Of course, they have to drive (in Rusty’s questionable car) and there are misadventures along the way. Including a stop in with Audrey Griswold (Leslie Mann) and her weird sex god husband Stone Crandall (played by a man with some experience in godly roles, Chris Hemsworth).

As far as trailers go, this one aims to bottle the spirit of the original Vacation while showing that the new movie has its own identity. With Keegan-Michael Key, Nick Kroll, Charlie Day, Regina Hall and Kaitlin Olson in the cast, the new Vacation comes from writers-turned-directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. It’ll visit our cinemas on August 21.

Joel McHale Joins The X-Files

Joel McHale Joins The X-Files

He'll play an internet news anchor in the show's revival

Joel-McHale-X-Files

With Mulder and Scully headed back to our screens early next year for a new run of The X-Files, creator Chris Carter and his team have tracked down the first new face to join Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny in the show. Community’s Joel McHale is on board to co-star.

McHale will play Tad O’Malley, the loudmouth anchor of a popular Internet news network that forms an unlikely alliance with Mulder as the FBI agents return for a six-episode revival, presumably with more conspiracies to investigate or strange events to encounter. Or both. You know the drill.

Mitch Pileggi is so far the only veteran of the series returning alongside the leads, but there has been talk of appearances by William B. Davis’ Cigarette Smoking Man, Mona Reyes (Annabeth Gish) and John Doggett (Robert Patrick), though all that remains shrouded in rumour vapour for now. For more on the show, check out our celebration of all things X-Files right here.

Shooting will happen this summer with the show debuting in the States on January 14. The sixth season of Community has just finished online via Yahoo Screen and now we wait to see whether the show scores a seventh season or that long-mooted, hashtag approved movie.

James Wan Confirmed To Direct Aquaman

James Wan Confirmed To Direct Aquaman

And he's also made a deal for Robotech

James-Wan-Aquaman

As Fast & Furious 7 continues to speed past the competition in earning terms around the world ($1.5 billion and counting), director James Wan is busy revving the engine for the next part of his career. After reports that he was in talks for the film back in April, he’s now made a deal to direct Aquaman for Warner Bros.

The film, which represents Warners’ attempt to further expand its DC Comics universe with more of the Justice League team, will star Jason Momoa as the reluctant ruler of Atlantis caught between his sympathise for us land folk and his people and attendant creatures beneath the waves. The character will be introduced in next year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, and he’ll have his own film in 2018, with Wan overseeing Kurt Johnstad’s future work on the script. Aquaman will also show up (naturally) in the Justice League films.

“The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material," says Warners president Greg Silverman. {Aquaman Jason Momoa}

And that’s not all Wan has locked in – he’s also spilled ink on a solid deal to make Robotech, adapting the 1980s anime. Yet both films will have to wait until the prolific director is finished returning to horror territory with The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, which he’ll shoot this year. And, as we’ve previously reported, your family members could be a part of, thanks to an open casting call
