True Story Trailer Arrives

True Story Trailer Arrives

James Franco has a tale to tell

With his constant barrage of side projects in film and on paper, it’s a wonder that James Franco has time to appear in other people’s movies. But here he is in a based-on-truth story, which sees him acting opposite pal Jonah Hill in a tale that will see neither of them using their comedy chops. With the film headed to the Sundance Film Festival, the first trailer for True Story has arrived.

Adapted by Dave Kajganich from Michael Finkel’s memoir, the plot finds Hill playing Finkel, a New York Times writer who, in 2002, was fired by the paper after his bosses announced he had falsified part of an investigative report. With his girlfriend (Felicity Jones) upset and no work prospects, Finkel suddenly discovered a possible path to redemption.

But this is no ordinary tale of someone working their way back into everyone’s good graces: it turns out that FBI murder suspect Christian Longo (Franco) had taken the journalist’s name and, after he was captured, refused to speak to anyone else but Finkel. As he dug into the mystery, Finkel realised he could save his career by talking to Longo.

Rupert Goold directing this one, with Ethan Suplee, Gretchen Mol and Robert John Burke also among the cast. True Story has yet to secure a general release here or in the US, but that is likely to change once it screens at Sundance.

First Look At Jessica Chastain In Crimson Peak

First Look At Jessica Chastain In Crimson Peak

She's dressed to impress

Those who attended this year’s San Diego Comic-Con got a look at some elements from Guillermo del Toro’s new gothic horror Crimson Peak, mostly props and chunks of the set. Now we have a proper glimpse at one of the main characters, with a shot of Jessica Chastain in costume provided by The Film Stage. {Jessica Chastain Crimson Peak}

Crimson Peak finds Mia Wasikowska as author Edith Cushing, who is freshly wed to the charming, heroic Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston). She moves to live with him in the titular massive, crumbling family pile in Cumbria. But soon after she arrives, she discovers that her husband is not who he appears to be, and the house itself has some very dark secrets. That she didn’t realise this when she learned it was called “Crimson Peak” is, frankly, her own lookout.

Chastain plays Lady Lucille Sharpe, Sir Thomas’ sister, a woman who no doubt carries her fair share of dangerous mysteries swirling about her. She certainly doesn’t dress like someone who is all about a warm welcome.

With Charlie Hunnam, Burn Gorman, Doug Jones, Leslie Hope and Jim Beaver aboard, Crimson Peak will haunt our cinemas on October 16 next year.

Guess How Sony's Hackers Celebrated The Interview Being Pulled

You may have thought the hacking scandal was officially over. Well, that's sort of true. Yesterday, the popular studio announced it was pulling The Interview's Christmas Day release and had no plans to make the film available in the future. To celebrate, the hackers allegedly did what hackers do best, sent another email with more demands, promising the data breaches would stop, if a few more conditions were met from now until forever. According to CNN, the hackers want Sony to agree to never release the film on any form, including but not limited to Blu-ray and VOD. They don't ...

This Music Teacher's Tribute To Star Wars Is The Greatest Holiday Lights Show We've Seen

We've now reached the stage where there are so many Star Wars homages out there that it's almost impossible to be impressed by anything new that tips its hat to George Lucas' beloved series. However a music teacher from San Francisco has managed to do just that with his very own Star Wars music Christmas lights show. It simply needs to be seen to be believed. I know, it really is quite remarkable, isn't it? And all the credit for this rather wonderful nod to Star Wars belongs to Tom BetGeorge. When he's not busy trying to blind his neighbors ...

Inside the Final Episode of The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson

The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson | Photo Credits: Lisette M. Azar/CBS

A billboard currently stationed outside CBS' Television City studio in Los Angeles gives thanks to Craig Ferguson for "10 years of joyous insanity," adding, "it truly was not like any other late night show."

That's not an exaggeration. The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson was the first talk show to feature a robot sidekick — the sassy skeleton Geoff Peterson — and a galloping mascot like Secretariat (actually two guys in a horse costume). And unlike most other hosts, Ferguson likes to interview guests in a freeform fashion, notably tearing up his notes at the start of each chat.

Why Night At The Museum 3 Is Actually The Touching Sendoff Robin Williams Deserves

Very few of us get the opportunity to script our own farewell. David Chase and Vince Gilligan did it with their own brilliant television programs. Stephen Colbert did it last night. And the late, great Robin Williams pulls it off beautifully with Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which you can start seeing today. This column will talk openly about Night at the Museum, so bail now if you want to avoid all spoilers. Our own Mike Reyes mentioned this in his review of the third and final Night At The Museum chapter, commenting that director Shawn Levy ...

Star Wars 7: See R2-D2, Chewbacca And More In New Behind-The-Scenes Video

Think about it. By this time next year, you will already have seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Probably multiple times. We're now less than one calendar year away from having a new Star Wars movie in theaters, and to recognize that incredible fact, J.J. Abrams and his cast recorded this very special "Thank you" vid from the Pinewood set of Star Wars 7. The video is a culmination of a fundraising effort J.J. Abrams started months ago to drive awareness and funds to UNICEF. Those who contributed were competing to earn a walk-on part in Star Wars: The ...
