Jim Carrey May Go Into Deep Cover

Jim Carrey May Go Into Deep Cover

He's considering a new comedy pitch

Jim-Carrey-Deep-Cover

The reviews may have been, to put it kindly, mixed for Dumb And Dumber To, but production company Red Granite – which helped get the film released in the first place, is clearly looking to work with one of its stars again. Jim Carrey is considering starring in a comedy film called Deep Cover .

There are no details about the potential script – which is still at the pitch stage – but the company has picked up the idea from writer Johnny Rosenthal and is currently dangling it in Carrey’s face hoping that he’ll bite and jump aboard as its star.

That title makes us think it’ll be something to do with espionage – hopefully nothing too politically difficult given what is happening with Sony and The Interview – and will give Carrey more chances to show off his comic chops.

Rosenthal has a few projects in development including an action comedy called Iron Jack and The Three Tenors (unsurprisingly, an opera comedy) and has worked on Bad Santa 2 for Dimension Films. As for Carrey, he’s not committed to anything at the moment, but is loosely attached to crime caper Ricky Stanicky.

The Interview Will Not Get A VOD Release From Sony

In case you were asleep the past couple of hours, or happened to lose internet/get caught up at work, The Interview has officially been canceled for theatrical exhibition. Press screenings in New York and Washington DC have also been scrapped, and while it looked like a brief moment that Sony Pictures would be entertaining the idea of distribution through VOD services, we have some bad news. It saddens us to tell you that as of this moment, it looks like we're never going to see The Interview in any way, shape, or form. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that ...

Steve Carell's New Movie Just Got Cancelled Because Of North Korea

We might as well all pack up and go home, because at the moment the bad-guys are winning. The repercussions of Sony's hacking are now starting to be felt around the movie industry, as New Regency has announced that work on Steve Carell's potential new film set in North Korea had now been stopped. At the time of its cancellation, the project was being developed for Gore Verbinski to direct with Steve Carell was going to play the lead. Steve Conrad, who has previously written The Weather Man, The Pursuit Of Happyness and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, had ...

President Obama's Favorite Movie Of 2014

President of the United States Barack Obama has revealed that his favorite movie of 2014 was none other than Richard Linklater's Boyhood. Apparently the Commander in Chief has decided to take a break from his political duties to try his hand at film criticism, and in the process he made a pretty wise choice. According to Politico, Barack Obama was recently asked by the press what his favorite movie of the year was, and his response was, "Boyhood was a great movie. That, I think, was my favorite movie this year." It's a rather smart choice, as Linklater's drama has been ...

White Collar's Tim DeKay Teases Finale's "Shocking Moment" and Looks Back on a "Great Ride"

Thursday's series finale of White Collar (9/8c, USA) promises to be not only the biggest con of Neal Caffrey's career, but also the biggest undercover act of Peter Burke's. If he can pull it off, that is.

Last week's penultimate episode of the USA series ended with Peter (Tim DeKay) posing as a master thief who Neal (Matt Bomer) had brought in to join the Pink Panthers for their $500 million heist. However, Woodford, the leader of the elite group, didn't exactly welcome him with open arms, and the episode ended with a gun to Peter's head. Thankfully, Peter's years spent working with Neal will...

Evangeline Lilly Is Way More Important To Ant-Man Than We Thought

Marvel's Ant-Man is seven months away from release, and while we know who most of the characters are, it's still unclear what specifically several of them will be doing in the film. One of the biggest mysteries is Hope Van Dyne, played by Evangeline Lilly. Aside from being the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, Hope's role in the film has been kept on the down low, but now we have a better idea of what to expect from her in the 2015 blockbuster. While talking with CNN, Lilly gave some information on her character, describing her as "a ...
