Jim Carrey As The Riddler Again? Here's What He Has To Say

Batman Forever landed the ultimate casting coup of its time when they cast Jim Carrey in the role of Edward Nygma, who would go on to be better known as The Riddler. Even naysayers who weren't so pleased with the overall film should be able to admit that he was one of the more fun and functional components to the film's plot, despite what others may have thought. We really haven't seen much of The Riddler, save for this year's break out hit Gotham, but if there were a day that the character would return to the screen, would Carrey ...

Major Theater Chain Bails On The Interview Following Threat

The fallout from the Sony hacking has just taken another unfortunate turn, though this one is of the self-inflicted variety. Concerned about the most recent round of threats, despite the Department Of Homeland Security declaring they're not credible, Sony has offered to let theater chains around the country opt out of screening The Interview. One large chain has already taken them up on that offer too. The theater in question that's pulling out is Carmike Cinemas. The organization operates some 278 theaters across the United States, and while an official reason wasn't given for why, it seems pretty clear that it's ...

Listen To Liam Neeson's Taken 3 Jingle, The Bloodiest And Goriest Christmas Song Ever

From the looks of it, Taken 3 -- or Tak3n, if we're really going with that – isn't falling into the trap of taking itself too seriously. Case in point, Exhibit A: a seasonal jingle in which the 12 days of Christmas are replaced by brutal acts of physical violence Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) unleashes on the idiots who stand in his way. Check it out now: 20th Century Fox dubs this the "12 Skills of Christmas," piggybacking off of the very special set of skills Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) has displayed over the course of two Taken movies. The tag line for ...

Why Marvel Doesn't Really Want To Give Hulk A Movie

While Marvel has delighted fans with the return of characters like Iron Man, Thor and Captain America in Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a question that has been repeatedly brought up by fans is, "Where's Hulk?" The green monster became a fan favorite after Joss Whedon's The Avengers in 2012, and yet the film studio decided that he would be the only one of the four core team members without a solo movie sequel. Why? It turns out it was decided that he could be kept temporarily as a character unique to Avengers films. It was director Joss Whedon who ...

The Character Joss Whedon Always Wanted In The Avengers Franchise

Joss Whedon did something truly incredible at the helm of the first Avengers movie. In unprecedented fashion, he brought together not just a team of blockbuster superheroes, but brought together multiple franchises into one super movie. As impressive as his work was, however, it turns out that what he was really always looking forward to in the future was making an Avengers movie featuring The Vision. This past summer, I was a member of a small group of journalists who flew out to England to visit the set of the upcoming The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it was while ...

Neil Gaiman Wants Tom Hiddleston For Sandman

Neil Gaiman Wants Tom Hiddleston For Sandman

Cheekbones: Check. English accent: check.

Neil-Gaiman-Wants-Tom-Hiddleston-Sandman

After years of wallowing in believed-unfilmable development hell, Neil Gaiman’s Sandman appears to be creeping closer to actually hitting screens in the hands of David S. Goyer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and The Fades’ Jack Thorne. But just who should play the iconic central figure, Morpheus? According to Gaiman, Tom Hiddleston could be a good shout.

While the author – who is also a producer on the film – seriously considered Benedict “ubiquitous” Cumberbatch, the actor is a little busy conquering every genre role under the sun, including Marvel’s Doctor Strange. "It's a funny thing with Morpheus, says Gaiman. “Again, it's that thing where you look around and think, 'Yes this person would be a fantastic person', and then time passes. "There was a time Johnny Depp would've been a great Morpheus, but now he's too old and it's fine. I think the first time I saw Benedict was as Sherlock Holmes, I thought, 'wow, that's incredibly Morpheus'. And fans probably thought the same because they immediately started doing fan-art, meshing the two of them up."

Still, there is someone who could handle the mantle while also melting the Internet should he even get near the project: "Then again, Tom Hiddleston is still out there! And the truth is, as far as I'm concerned, anybody who sounds English with great cheekbones can probably pull it off."

Casting, for now at least, seems a little way off. But Gaiman seems happy to simply be more involved this time around. "My position on it has always been, for over 25 years now, I would rather see no Sandman movie than a bad Sandman movie. A couple of times, people say, 'It's a crime there's never been a Sandman movie', and a couple of times, to be honest, I have thrown my body in front of a bus on a couple of bad ones over the years. I'm just happy that no bad Sandman movie has ever been made. But I'm really hoping that a good one will be. They're a good team. And with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in charge, his instincts are good and he loves the material. He wants it to be true to the material."

According to Gaiman, he’s set to see a new draft of the script in the next week or so, which means we still have a wait to see if this latest attempt to bring Dream, Death and the rest to screens actually works out.

How Star Wars Nearly Ruined Natalie Portman's Career

Currently, everyone's collectively excited for John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac. They are the newcomers to the Star Wars universe, and most assume that landing high-profile gigs in The Force Awakens can only boost their individual careers. Well, Natalie Portman would like to remind them that Star Wars isn't always the benefit fans might assume it to be. Natalie Portman, of course, held down the pivotal role of Padme Amidala in George Lucas' prequel trilogy, starting with Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. But the way Portman remembers it, the films did more harm than good. ...
