Kenneth Branagh invites us to the ball
What's Christmas without some sort of version of Cinderella? With that festive notion in mind, Disney have released a new extended trailer for Kenneth Branagh's take on the famous fairytale. Pay attention to this Belgian version and you'll spot some footage we haven't seen in previous promos.
Branagh’s take on the classic tale looks to be holding to the traditional story. Young Ella (Lilly James) sees her merchant father remarry following the tragic death of her mother. Keen to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drizella (Sophie McShera) into the family home.
She’s then turned into a domestic servant (families, eh?), meets a charming royal bloke (Richard Madden), falls in lurve, scores a chance to go to the ball he’s throwing via the Fairy Godmother (Helena Bonham Carter), has a glass slipper wardrobe malfunction and... Well, we can’t tell you the whole story, can we? It’s a tightly kept secret that definitely hasn’t been out there for eons.{Cinderella Character Posters}
Chris Weitz wrote the script for this new take, and Cinderella will head to UK cinemas on March 27, 2015.
