The 2015 Critics Choice Nominations: Get The Complete List Here

The big groups continue to recognize the same big movies as we run up to next year's Academy Awards nominations. Following both the SAG and Golden Globes nominations, the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) announced the nominees for its 20th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards. The winners will be revealed at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, which will broadcast live on A&E from the Hollywood Palladium on January 15, at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT – which, coincidentally, is the day the Academy Award nominations are announced. The CCMAs are selected by critics, and have no direct influence on the ...

The 5 Men Who May Direct Star Trek 3

There has been a lot of chatter over who will be directing Star Trek 3 after Robert Orci stepped down. While Star Trek alum Jonathan Frakes wasn't shy about his desire to direct the new Star Trek film, for quite a while Edgar Wright was leading the pack of directors on the shortlist to helm the third film. Now we've got a new list of potential directors from Paramount, and it seems to be a new batch of names entirely. As Deadline reports, Paramount has released the names of five men being considered to fill Orci's former role as director. Sitting ...

Rosario Dawson Still Doesn't Understand Why Everyone Hates This Movie

Rosario Dawson has had a varied career, starting as a complete amateur in Larry Clark's Kids to eventually working with such heavyweights as Spike Lee (He Got Game, 25th Hour), Oliver Stone (Alexander) and Quentin Tarantino (Death Proof). But there's one gem on her resume that the Top Five actress doesn't understand why people continue to sleep on, and the answer might surprise you. Dawson was speaking with THR about her top roles, and mentioned that the 2001 comedy Josie and then Pussycats is far better than people give it credit for. She told the trade mag: That movie is so ...

Christina Hendricks Hitches A Ride With Roadies

Christina Hendricks Hitches A Ride With Roadies

She'll play the band's production manager

Christina-Hendricks-Roadies

Most of the cast for Cameron Crowe and Winnie Holzman’s new US cable comedy Roadies has already been assembled. But there are one or two key roles still to be filled, with Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks signing on.

Roadies, which charts similar territory to Crowe’s Almost Famous, follows the day-to-day dramas of a successful rock tour. He’s writing and directing the pilot, which finds Luke Wilson as road-weary, sleep-deprived tour manager Bill, the best in the business. Imogen Poots will be Kelly Ann, a first-tier tech genius with second-tier people skills, Keisha Castle-Hughes is the band’s outspoken sound mixer Donna, while Rafe Spall will be a successful British financial adviser sent to oversee the band’s budget despite knowing nothing about the music. And there’s also Peter Cambor, as a guitar tech with questionable personal hygiene but amazing charm.

Hendricks has scored the role of Shelli, the band’s production manager, a smart and capable woman who is also a very private person who is dedicated to her job. Holzman will run the show assuming it get picked up following the pilot, which will rock and roll cameras in Canada early next year. With Mad Men coming to an end in 2015, this should mark a big new TV gig for Hendricks, who will be seen in Ryan Gosling’s dark fantasy tale Lost River (out April 24) and Gillian Flynn adaptation Dark Places, which doesn’t yet have a UK release date.

David Oyelowo Heads For Americanah

David Oyelowo Heads For Americanah

He'll co-star with Lupita Nyong'o

David-Oyelowo-Americanah

He may have had only a brief moment in Interstellar, but David Oyelowo is drawing huge praise (and a Golden Globe nomination) for his role as Martin Luther King Jr. in the upcoming Selma. He’s now set to star alongside an awards veteran, 12 Years A Slave's Lupita Nyong’o, in indie drama Americanah .

Adapted from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's novel, Americanah is the story of Ifemelu, her early life in Nigeria, her expatriate experience working in America, and her later return to her home country. It's also a love story between Ifemelu and Obinze (Oyelowo), who she leaves behind in Nigeria while she embarks on her odyssey through American class politics.

Adichie's most recent book (following the bestsellers Purple Hibiscus, That Thing Around Your Neck and Half Of A Yellow Sun), Americanah was listed as one of the New York Times' ten best books of 2013, won the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction, and was shortlisted for this year's Bailieys Women's Prize For Fiction.

Brad Pitt’s Plan B company – which worked on both 12 Years and Selma – is behind this one, with the team now looking for a writer and director to handle the adaptation. Given that it’s without its two key creative positions behind the camera, the film doesn’t yet have a shoot date.

Oyelowo will next be seen in J.C. Chandor’s A Most Violent Year, due here on January 23, while Ava DuVernay’s Selma will hit our cinemas on February 6. Nyong’o is voicing Rakcha in Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book (out October 16) and has a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is set for release on December 18 next year.

The Bizarre Reason Angelina Jolie Isn't Able To Promote Her New Movie Unbroken

Angelina Jolie wasn't able to make it to the LA premiere of her latest directorial project Unbroken over weekend, and it wasn't because of embarrassment over leaked emails in the Sony hacking scandal. Jolie disappointedly notified her fans via video message, that she'd be stuck home sick with none other than the chicken pox. Watch below: You would think an announcement of chicken pox would come from one of the Jolie-Pitt's six kids, not the glamorous Jolie herself. But, it's totally understandable she'll be unable to promote her new movie for the time being, because adult chicken pox is the ...

Get A Good Look At Iron Man's Avengers: Age Of Ultron Suit

Get A Good Look At Iron Man's Avengers: Age Of Ultron Suit

Tony Stark's back in the can

Chances are you’ve already caught a few glimpses of Tony Stark’s new Iron Man duds in the teaser trailer for Avengers: Age Of Ultron that debuted back in October. But if you were itching to get a closer look to see how it compares to past suits, Hot Toys has you covered with its new toy. {Iron Man Age Of Ultron Suit Toy}

Yes, though Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony destroyed all of his suits at the end of Iron Man 3, he’s still, as he said, Iron Man, so he’s naturally come up with a new suit. And it’s really not that different from what he was sporting in the last film, though it probably boasts a few new gadget tricks.

He’ll need them, as this time he and his Avengers pals are up against their greatest threat, one that Tony is directly responsible for, in the shape of a peacekeeping droid force controlled by the self-aware A.I. Ultron. While his idea is to supplement the Avengers and let his super-powered comrades enjoy some much-needed time off, he ends up causing them more trouble than anticipated. And that’s before two new powered types – Wanda “Scarlet Witch” Maximoff and Pietro "Quicksilver” Maximoff – show up…

With Joss Whedon once more in charge of wrangling the madness, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders are back together again alongside an array of new and old friends including James Spader (as Ultron), Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Andy Serkis and Thomas Kretschmann. Avengers: Age Of Ultron will be out in the UK on April 24. Now what we want is a close-up look at the Hulkbuster…
