Given how closely it's tied into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s only occasionally that Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series is directly affected by events on the big screen. Avengers: Age Of Ultron seems like the perfect opportunity for some sort of crossover, and what do you know: Marvel is doing just that.
The exact details are, somewhat naturally for the secretive company, still locked away at some level of clearance the world is not ready for, but the show’s team say that the film will have predictably wide-ranging consequences. “You should expect something,” executive producer Jed Whedon tells Entertainment Weekly. “The Avengers is the big tent that all the franchises play under. Obviously, we’re included in that.”
Just don’t go expect it to be quite as big an effect as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which effective upended the entire show’s concept (and, it can be admitted, made it a lot better). “I don’t think any movie has the potential to impact us in the way that Captain America 2 did,” executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen says, “but there will be connections.”
So… Ultron drones hanging around causing trouble for Clark Gregg’s Coulson and the rest? A visit from Scarlet Witch? We’ll find out next May as the film arrives in the US on May 1, following its UK release on April 24.
As though foretold by the pre-quake tremors of the initial imagery yesterday, the full teaser trailer for San Andreas has now arrived online. Find somewhere safe to watch and point your eyes below.
Dwayne Johnson anchors this one as Ray, a talented rescue pilot who has just packed daughter Blake (Alexandra Daddario) off to San Francisco when The Big One, the mother (nature) of all earthquakes hits California and, if Paul Giamatti’s expert is to be believed, will be felt all across the US of A.
With the ground heaving apart, buildings shaking and the Golden Gate bridge probably rolling its eyes and tutting, “not this shit again”, Ray must team up with his ex-wife Emma (Johnson’s Race To Witch Mountain co-star Carla Gugino) and try to find a way to track down their daughter. But the situation may be even worse than he suspects. What, has his favourite gym been reduced to rubble in the madness? {San Andreas images}
With Brad Peyton going full Roland Emmerich this time, expect chaos, shouting and lots of CG-fuelled destruction. San Andreas will be out here on May 29. If you’ll excuse him, our Man In LA (hello!) will now retreat to somewhere safe. Possibly Narnia.
The Voice will introduce its latest game-changing — literally — twist on Tuesday's results show and fans have none other than the NFL to thank for the show's latest format shake-up.
"We take a lot of what we do also from sports and the NFL does such a...
