Emma Thompson Pretty Much Threw The Harry Potter Franchise Under The Knight Bus

Emma Thompson made a not-so-subtle quip about the Harry Potter franchise during her speech at the British Independent Film Awards in London on Sunday evening. The legendary English thespian made her somewhat controversial comments after picking up the Richard Harris Award for outstanding contribution to British film. According to the Hollywood Reporter, as she clasped the gong in her hand, Emma Thompson decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to voice her exact thoughts on the mistakes that she has made in her career. "I must confess to you that I have been with studios. I haven't enjoyed it. ...

How Alfred Will Be Different In Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice

A Batman movie would not be complete without the loyal and tiresome efforts of our favorite Butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Portrayed slightly differently in every film he's appeared in, Alfred often serves as an important guide and voice of reason to his employer, Bruce Wayne. And the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to include the character once again, this time in a way we've never seen before. The new Alfred will be played by notable English actor, Jeremy Irons. Though he could not discuss the character in length, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Irons ...

7 Directors We'd Like To See Tackle Star Trek 3

It seems that the third installation in the rebooted Star Trek film franchise has hit a bit of a snag. The rebooted series lost its original director, J.J. Abrams, when he traded the Enterprise for the Millenium Falcon, and now the film's new director, Roberto Orci, has jumped ship as well. So with an open director's chair, rumors are circulating over who could take over the popular franchise. Here's who we think could fill Abrams' lense-flared shoes. Edgar Wright Wright is heavily rumored to be on the top of the list of those being considered. Wright already has a ...

Luke Wilson And Imogen Poots Will Be Roadies

Luke Wilson And Imogen Poots Will Be Roadies

Keisha Castle-Hughes and more join Cameron Crowe's pilot

Luke-Wilson-Roadies

At least two of the leads had already been rumoured as in talks, but now we have the full, official main line-up for Cameron Crowe’s new TV rock comedy Roadies. Luke Wilson, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes and Peter Cambor will star in the pilot for US cable channel Showtime.

Roadies, which sounds like an even more comedic take on the experiences he drew on for 2000’s Almost Famous, follows the day-to-day dramas of a rock tour. He’s writing and directing the pilot, which finds Wilson as road-weary, sleep-deprived tour manager Bill, the best in the business. Poots will be Kelly Ann, a first-tier tech genius with second-tier people skills, while Castle-Hughes is the band’s outspoken sound mixer Donna, while Spall will be a successful British financial adviser sent to oversee the band’s budget despite knowing nothing about the music. Cambor, meanwhile, will be a guitar tech with questionable personal hygiene but amazing charm.

Once Crowe has kicked things off, My So Called Life/thirtysomething’s Winnie Holzman will take over show-running duties, assuming the series is picked up. And J.J. Abrams, who knows a little something about TV series, is also aboard to offer his assistance – you know, in between finishing Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the 783 other things he’s working on. Crowe will kick off shooting on the pilot next month in Vancouver. Rock on!

That Time The Terminator Franchise And Nike Almost Went To War Over A Shoe

There's a lot for Terminator fans to be excited about these days with the recent release of the Terminator: Genisys trailer. If you take a closer look, they might look a bit familiar. Did you catch that the Nike Vandals Kyle Reese is wearing in the Genisys trailer are the same Nike Vandals he was wearing in the original Terminator? If you didn't, apparently you totally should ...

George Lucas Hasn't Watched The Star Wars 7 Trailer, Here's Why

While the rest of the galaxy has been fawning over the first glimpse of Star Wars: The Force Awakens for several days now, there is one prominent member of the franchise's fraternity that still hasn't watched the trailer for the upcoming seventh installment to the beloved series: George Lucas. That's right, the man who created the entire Star Wars universe hasn't even watched the teaser for The Force Awakens. And he actually has a legitimate reason why. While attending Bloomberg Businessweek's 85th anniversary, George Lucas was asked for his reaction to JJ Abrams' trailer by Page Six. It was at ...
